Collaborative Researcher in the Institute of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, NCSR ‘Demokritos’

Research Area

  • Optical Spectroscopy of Condensed Matter

Education

  • Diploma in Physics: 1989, University of Athens
  • Ph.D. in Physics: 1994, University of Warwick, UK

Research Interests

  • Dye sensitized and perovskite solar cells, materials properties and as well as optimization of device efficiency and stability - photocatalysis and superhydrophilicity of TiO2 materials - CO2 capture and conversion. Emphasis is given on the synthesis of TiO2 in several forms (nanoparticles, nanotubes), its sensitization (dyes and quantum dots) and modification (anion doping, functionalization with metals and carbonaceous materials) as well as structural (Raman spectroscopy), electronic (photoluminescence), optical (UV-visible diffuse reflectance) and morphological (SEM, AFM) characterization of semiconducting nanomaterials and films, including perovskite halides which have recently attracted tremendous interest in optoelectronic applications
